Two months ago, Make No Mistake was just a half-forgotten file on my laptop. A novel destined never to be read. Written in 2019, queried for two years, and then set aside.
How quickly things change!
When circumstances in the United States shifted in January 2025, suddenly the details in Make No Mistake became not just relevant, but prescient. That’s when I decided to release Make No Mistake here on Substack. It’s a story of resistance and hope against challenging odds, and a story whose time had come.
In a matter of weeks, readership grew from zero to well over 1300 with readers telling me they were binge-reading, hungering for the next chapter to be released. Podcast subscribers grew as soon as I began to record the chapters and share them.
And now? Make No Mistake is available as a paperback and e-book.
(Note: your order will be printed and shipped from the Amazon site in your country/region so no tariff issues apply).
The paperback includes a bonus section:
· a reading list (with all the books mentioned in Madeline and Maggie’s book clubs as well as books I read for research)
· a Q & A with the author (that would be me)
· and a list of questions for book club discussions
I know many of you have already read the novel as it was being released (slowly, one page-turning chapter at a time), but wouldn’t it be great to have your own copy to read at your own pace? I’m sure you missed a few key details as you were speedreading, staying up late, and whipping through the pages, right?
If you enjoyed it (and that certainly was the consensus in the comments), consider gifting a copy to friends and family (ask your local independent bookstore to order the paperback for you). Ask your local library to buy a copy for their shelves. It’s a story that has much to offer in terms of creative resistance and hope.
I’m also available to join your book club online to hear your thoughts and answer any questions.
And so, from Maggie and friends, a heartfelt thank you for your enthusiasm, tears, laughter and cheering. We hope you feel inspired to reach out, connect and build a better world for everyone. After all, if Maggie can do it …
P.S. In case you’re wondering what I’m up to next, I’m putting finishing touches on the draft of a new novel. Stay tuned.
Sounds like we have content in common ✌️
